George returns to his hometown of Brighton after a 20-year absence to reunite with his estranged wife Judith, who has since been placed in a care home.
George believes her deteriorating condition will allow him to finally process the memories of his previous transgressions.
He instead develops conflicting and confusing feelings when he discovers Judith has no recollection of him at all.
To reconcile regret and loss, George turns to his wife's nurse, a young widow called Lila for guidance. Lila struggles with her own demons as she joins George in this exploration of the consequences of fear and the struggle for redemption.
